I Believe that by 2020, the majority of our lives will be controlled by technology. I still think that we will probably have face to face lectures, and maybe take notes, but we might have special computers or something, i dont know whether we will still use pen and paper to take notes, although i think it will still be encouraged at schools. I do not think that we will have gone compltely online, therefore i do not think that blogging is going to be come the new form of learning. but i do t believe that this will play a bigger role in more courses, than just media based ones.
I think maybe by then there will be the semantic web as well as other theories around web 3.0, for instance quicker graphics etc, so this may make life alot easier and it maybe be easier to find what you want on the internet.
I think we will probably rely on the internet alot more as well, for hand ins and essays, a sound system will probably be created, so that you can email your essay across, with the guarantee it is going to get there in time and not get lost.

I agree with you kayleigh that in the future we will probably depend more on the internet than we do even now. Especially with the introduction of semantic web it will make researching information online a lot easier and more efficient.
Do you think this will hinder our society at all though? Even though the thought is scary to me that we could depend on pieces of machinary so much in our everyday lives, it could also be very beneficial to our society. It could improve our health system, and make communicating with countries around the world much faster and easier.
i also believe that it will benefit us, we can not stop things developing it is a natural progression, therefore we have to embrace whatever does happen in the future, there is nothing we can do to change it really.
In relation to your question lauren i don't think it can hinder our society but i do think that people are becoming to reliant on it there for if it broke down then people would be so lost and wouldn't have the first idea of what to do so we shouldn't rely to much on it like we do.
I dont necessarily feel it would hinder our scoiety either but obviously it will have to be worked at and only brought into the public domain when they know such technology works effectively or else whole systems could break down. Take the Terminal 5 fiasco for example, if precautions had been taken before the opening then surely all the technological problems would not have occured, well not to this degree anyway. I think sometimes people rush things in order to meet target, etc. But what is the point in rushing things when it could lead to disastrous consequences within our society. Therefore sometimes I feel that our society is at too much of a rush to advance technologically.
I agree, the only thing that concerns me about technology is the fact that when it goes down or malfunctions everything shuts down because we rely so heavily on it
Kayleigh,
I'm really pleased to see the excellent discussion that has taken place as a result of your original blog post. I'm also pleased to see that you responded to the comments, which is good!
Yes, I too worry that we are over reliant on technology to such an extent that it does throw society when things go wrong with it.
All the best
Emma
